Job Description

Electrical Control Panel Designer:

Support Standardization and Configuration of a control panels across the entire blower and compressor line.

This position is a telecommuting opportunity. Client site is in Quincy, IL but relocation to the area is not necessary. 

Design Technical Services (DTS) has an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer supporting our client’s location in Illinois.  The successful incumbent will act as the primary electrical designer as well as the project manager and customer primary point of contact.  The focus of this role will be to support development of standardized and modular BOM component and subsystems for electrical control panels across an extensive product line of industrial compressors and blowers.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with client’s electrical engineering Supervisor to evaluate current electrical control panel design, BOM, and CAD design artifacts (schematics, layout, etc)
  • Evaluate designs and BOM to establish strategy for scalable and modular panel designs that work across various horsepower ranges, voltage ranges, and comply with various industrial standards (CSA, CE, UL)
  • Create, update, and modify electrical schematics, layout drawings, and various other technical artifacts to match new designs
  • Using SAP and PLM system, create modular BOM structure and release the proper technical design artifacts to establish re-usability and modularity for a range of products.

Required experience:

  • 2-4 years’ experience using ePLAN electrical design package
  • Experience using SAP to create and release complex assemblies
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience with moderate use PowerPoint and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-company and multi-geographical team

Preferred experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of electrical cabinet panel design experience
  • BOM and assembly hierarchy management
  • Knowledge of motors, motor starters, VFD sizing and power electronics
  • Basic understanding of Siemens Teamcenter
