Now Hiring: Electrical Design Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Location: Wichita, KS

Design avionics, power electronics, and battery systems. Select the best available solutions among digital and analog toolsets to create compelling new products. Utilize modern technology spanning from pure analog to digital to software, implemented on multilayer PCBs, and packaged by custom hardware.

Product areas include cockpit displays and instruments, local and remote sensing, data conversion and storage, lithium battery management, AC/DC and DC/DC power conversion up to 2000W, in-seat power solutions, and various other components needed in aircraft systems.

This position is open to expertise in a variety of skills including discrete/analog, mixed-signal, and high-speed digital circuit design.

Essential Duties

  • Design schematics for discrete/analog, mixed-signal, or high-speed digital circuits while coordinating with dedicated resources for PCB layout
  • Research new components, technologies, and methods to incorporate into new designs
  • Contribute to designing embedded software or programmable hardware as needed to implement requirements
  • Design hardware or software-based tools to support verification and manufacturing
  • Build and troubleshoot hardware, including soldering, operation of test equipment, and daily work in both office and test lab environments
  • Prototype and execute test programs to verify compliance with applicable performance, regulatory, and quality requirements
  • Document designs in required formats, including BOMs, ECOs, and work instructions

Minimum Requirements

  • Required Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • Required 5+ years of professional experience designing electronic products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interface with engineering, production, management, and personnel within other departments
  • Required experience designing PCBs and one or more of the following:
  • C for embedded microcontrollers
  • VHDL for FPGAs
  • Discrete/Analog circuit design

Nice to Have

  • C++, C#, or Python languages for PC application software
  • Experience designing to environmental requirements such as RTCA DO-160, and safety-critical software such as RTCA DO-178 and DO-254
  • Experience with Design for Manufacture and Design for Test (DFM & DFT)
  • Experience with PADS schematic capture, and PCB layout software, and PSpice or LTSpice simulation tools
