Job Description

We are seeking an ENTRY-LEVEL Electrical Engineer with experience in photonics and lasers to work with our client, a company that provides mission-critical, next generation solutions for the command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance markets.  The selected candidate will work this six (6) month temp-to-hire opportunity in Palm Bay, FL from 8am to 5pm.  The successful Electrical Engineer be part of a team and help design and develop innovative communications and digital communications.  Duties for this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyzing system performance or operational requirements
  • Conducting research on new photonics technologies
  • Creating and/or maintaining photonic design histories
  • Designing, analyzing, modifying, integrating, testing, and evaluating RF Photonic systems and subsystem level components
  • Designing, analyzing, modifying, testing, and evaluating optical communications systems and subsystem level components
  • Determining applications of photonics appropriate to meet product objectives or features
  • Determining design approaches and parameters
  • Developing and/or testing photonic prototypes or models
  • Overseeing or providing expertise on manufacturing, assembly, or fabrication processes
  • Performing simulations and present design reviews to peer Engineers
  • Performing system analysis to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Selecting components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability
  • Training Operators, Engineers, and/or other personnel
  • Utilizing modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results
  • Writing reports or research proposals
  • Writing scripts to control synthesis and build tools

**Candidates that do not meet the below CRITICAL requirements, will not be considered for the position:

  • Active SSBI and SCI access
  • PhD or a Master’s degree in a STEM field or related

Required KSAOs

  • 0-2 years of Photonics experience with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Materials Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, or Physics.  In lieu of a Doctoral Degree, 4+ years of Photonics experience with a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics.
  • A GPA of 3.0 or greater MANDATORY
  • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills

Preferred KSAOs

  • Knowledge and/or experience with VHDL, MCM, HFSS, Network, Power, Analog, Antennas, Controls, ENE, RF, Photonics, Modem, EDA, DSP, MATLAB, Communication Systems, or FPGA preferred.
  • Knowledge of and/or understanding circuit analysis and operational concepts.  Familiarity with various computing environments (LINUX/Windows) is preferred.

This is an estimated six (6) month-to-hire position in Palm Bay, FL that is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions.  Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.  Position is subject to U.S. Government Contractor hiring eligibility requirements.  No third-party vendors.  Pay is commensurate with experience.
