Electrical Engineer:  $34.64 hr.

Volt is partnering with an industry leader in medical devices to hire an Electrical Engineer for their St Paul location.  This is a year long contract, however would like the person to eventually go direct.

Description:

We are seeking an experienced, high caliber Electrical Engineer I to assist in development and sustaining engineering projects within the Cardiac Arrhythmia and Heart Failure, Electrophysiology division. The position will be responsible for assisting in sustaining and continuing development of Abbott technologies including RF ablation generators, the EnSite Velocity 3D mapping and navigation technology and the EP-WorkMate recording system family of products. This individual will be responsible for design changes and assessments for hardware both digital and analog, development of verification plans and reports, and associated design transfers to production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Participates on engineering teams in completing development projects.
• Leads small-scale design change efforts in support of continuation engineering activities.
• Completes system, analog, digital, and firmware designs. This includes setting and revising requirements and specifications, debugging, testing electrical circuits and systems, and completing documentation to ensure feasibility and verifiability of performance.
• Plans, coordinates, and assists in executing the activities of development teams in support of project goals.
• Effectively communicates the project successes, risks, and roadblocks to the appropriate management levels.
• Identifies and mitigates project risks.
• Interfaces with various internal functions, outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community.
• Supports animal studies, bench testing, clinical evaluations, and production
• Establishes test methods and model development
• Ensures compliance with procedural and documentation requirements of SJM, FDA and ISO design controls
• Contributes to strategic initiatives for continuous improvement
• Solves complex and diverse technical problems by applying sound judgment, creativity, appropriate data analysis, and technical expertise.

Experience
• 1-2 years experience in product development/engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project leadership and continuous improvement skills
• Ability to influence and negotiate
• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization
• Possesses a positive attitude with strong interpersonal and team skills
• Printed circuit board design, schematic entry, and design simulation
• Embedded firmware design experience
• Familiarity with IEC 60601 family of standards
• Statistical analysis, or similar tool set
