Job Description

Volt is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work on-site with our customer in Decatur, IL on contingent assignment forecasted for 12 months This opening is for an Engineer in the Electrical Integration team for motor graders within the Earthmoving Product Development Team located in Decatur, IL.

  • The candidate will be responsible for the design of chassis wiring, lighting systems, and electrical system integration in support of new product introduction (NPI) programs and current production improvements for motor graders.
  • The candidate will be accountable for meeting all design criteria goals which include time, cost, and quality, as well as, effectively working within a cross functional team environment in collaborative product and process development (CPPD).
  • Initially, the contribution will be smaller tasks to learn the design to factory implementation process. Tasks will become increasingly challenging as progress is made.
  • Contributions will be a part of the work groups goals for time, cost, quality, collaboration, and development.


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience is desired of at least 2 years in product development or related design experience but will consider new college graduates.
  • Must have strong communication skills and possess the ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members, as well as, all levels within the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Must process excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently, as well as, part of a team environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Pro/Engineer and the Pro/Cabling Module.
  • Knowledge and the ability to apply Caterpillar engineering standards and/or industry design standards and specifications.
  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot electrical systems.
  • Hands on operation or maintenance experience with earth moving or agricultural equipment.
