Job Description

Volt is looking for an Electrical Engineer for a 12-month contract.  Our client is located in Guilford, CT and is a driving force in the research, healthcare, industrial and applied markets, generating more than $17 billion in annual revenue. 

We are seeking a strong candidate to work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and molecular biologists. The job responsibilities will include design and development support, and verification and test of sequencing sub-systems and platforms. Responsibilities may also include running experiments on the Ion Torrent sequencing platforms to improve performance. It will be critical that this individual have strong verbal and written communication skills to be successful.


  • Minimum BS, MS or PHD recommended, in Electrical/Systems or Bio-medical Engineering
  • Minimum 2+ year’s applicable experience in Electrical/System engineering or medical device development and/or integration and test
  • Experience with a variety of laboratory devices and instrumentation In addition to impeccable technical skills, successful candidates possess strong organizational, communication and team skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • High energy and willing to work hands-on in executing a variety of activities independently or with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Prior experience with electrical engineering, software (ex. python scripting), and system integration and test experience.
  • Understanding of best-practice quality processes and be capable of understanding system requirements and developing and documenting designs and writing test plans.
  • Experience in biotechnology or medical device development; Next Gen sequencing experience is a plus.
  • HP-ALM, Doors, or other Quality Systems.
  • Proficient in scripting, debugging, optimization tools, and unit testing.
  • Experience with high-speed microprocessor sub-systems, analog and mixed-signal circuits, and FPGA designs and associated tools including schematic capture and simulation tools.
