Job Description

Volt is seeking Electrical Fabrication Assembler with fabrication experience in Racks, Rack Wiring, chassis (test boxes), and other critical ground support equipment needed to support our client’s satellite flight hardware testing.  This will be a mix on one off designs or small groups of repeat designs built from schematic and assembly drawing documentation, with no work instruction level detail. Additional support of EGSE certification work such as cable hi-pot or basic functional check out of equipment.  This is a lot of assembly with minimal supervision and wiring in both connectors, and discrete electronic components and some PWB’s

In this roll the technician will be focused on fabrication of chassis/harness, rack assemblies. Not a factory environment, will be reviewing drawing/schematics to fabricate product. Should be able to work independently. There are team members available for reference, but looking for someone with strong fabrication skill to start with minimal training. Will also do certification work on assemblies, cables. During int. will ask about more complex fabrication work done. Ask about ability to troubleshoot fab. work. Team is small (2-3) working in a lab environment. Pos. open due to surge in workload.

The ideal candidate would have the following skills:

  • Background in fabrication of electronic chassis, rack and cable assemblies, utilizing minimal documentation
  • Proficiency in soldering of connectors and minimal PWB component assemblies, crimping of connector pin assemblies
  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings, and mechanical drawings
  • Familiarity of electronic components such as switches, relays, diodes, etc
  • Familiarity with DMM’s and other basic electronic test equipment
  • Ability to perform basic checkout and troubleshooting of electronic components
  • Ability to use common hand tools for mechanical assembly and familiarity with fasteners
  • Basic PC applications knowledge preferred: MS Word, VISIO, MS Excel
