Volt is currently seeking an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer.

Summary: Develop and support the engineering design, validation, and maintenance of current and future generations of sensing components

Experience with the electrical components design or support of construction/mining, industrial, and/or heavy equipment. Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and manufacturing systems. Incumbents have usually gained 3 to 5 years of electrical component development experience and are able to perform complex assignments.

This is a hardware engineer position, focused on electrical or electronic component design and development. Candidate needs to have hands on experience with hardware and circuit troubleshooting. Does not want to see embedded software engineers (position was previously opened and candidates submitted were not a match due to the wrong experience) The candidate will be responsible for world wide design control of sensing components. These components are primarily purchased finished. The candidate will manage development of new products utilizing established processes for specification, sourcing, design & process verification, and production launch. The engineer will also be responsible for projects focused on usage of existing components in new system applications, quality improvement, and cost reduction.

Work with suppliers and internal process partners to develop new sensing component following NPI and NTI process conduct lab validation and/or data analysis for prototype or returned sensing components provide technical and application support to NHL users as design control owner

Requires an accredited Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering major, required - Electrical Engineering and Master and/or Ph.D degree preferred

3-5 years’ minimum working experience, required Strong project management and analytical skills are required to collaborate with customers, suppliers, product support, purchasing, systems engineering, and purchasing Past experience in sensor packaging or sensor manufacturing, desired. Past experience with data link acquisition tools such as CANape, CANalyzer, dSPACE is desired. 6 sigma training or experience desired. Electrical lab experience with troubleshooting down to a circuit board desired Internship and professional experience will be considered work experience.
