Electro Mechanical Assembler Position Summary:

Under limited supervision, Electro Mechanical Assemblers perform a wide variety of electronic and mechanical assembly of products and instruments such as power supplies, modules, chassis drawers, cable harnesses, PC boards, electronic systems, and sub-assemblies.

 Qualifications/Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, the Electro Mechanical Assembler must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience:

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must possess a high school diploma or have an equivalent level of education.

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must possess 2-4 years of closely related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate knowledge of electronic components and proficiency in electro-mechanical assembly

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate proficiency in soldering, including, but not limited to, through-hole and surface mount technology

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must have prior experience in IPC/J standard soldering; Professional training and/or certifications are highly regarded

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate knowledge of lean manufacturing and Kanban systems

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must possess basic computer skills (Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word) needed to perform the required duties, whilst using soldering irons and basic hand tools

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate the ability to read blueprints, Bill of Materials, mechanical drawings, written instructions and understand verbal instructions

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate the ability to set up test equipment for functional, operational, and environmental and life tests

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate the ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, including ratios and fractions

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate the ability to interpret drawings, perform modifications and rework assemblies

- Electro Mechanical Assembler must demonstrate the ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Additional duties and responsibilities may include the following:

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review and interpret work release documentation

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review and interpret engineering Change Orders (ECO)

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review written instructions regarding duties to be performed

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review interpret verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review production drawings (released, unreleased and/or obsolete) and execute assemblies as specified.

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will review informal (hand-drawn or unreleased) assembly drawings for production manufacturing

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will perform soldering and de-soldering of both through-hole and surface mount technology (SMT) components

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will perform installations and/or remove discrete components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, inductors, etc., onto printed circuit assemblies (PCA’s) and/or panels using both traditional soldering iron and/or hot air techniques

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will perform installations and/or remove integrated circuits (IC’s) onto printed circuit assemblies (PCA’s) and/or panels using both tradition soldering and or hot air techniques

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will perform assembly/disassembly of mechanical assemblies using both traditional and non-traditional tooling, such as screwdrivers, torque wrenches, standard wrenches, hammers, etc.

- Electro Mechanical Assemblers will be installing, removing, assembly and disassembly using a microscope
