Electronics Engineer, Vending Platform

This position is to design, develop, and support next generation embedded electronics for our intelligent Vending, Telemetry, and Cashless architecture.  

This position requires an Electronics Engineer with a strong digital electronics background.  This should be balanced with solid understanding and practice of motor control, analog & power circuit design, and system interfacing.  Embedded firmware development in C programming in required. Professional experience developing embedded computer systems is required.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, development, and production support of electrical and electronic components based for industry-leading vending and control products.
  • PCBA-level design and development of control boards based on 32-bit and 64-bit embedded SoC (system-on-a-chip) processors.  Design and development of power supply modules, interface boards, and associated harnessing.
  • Development of system- and component-level technical specifications, incorporating peer review and document release, in a team environment
  • Design and implementation of test procedures for electrical components.  Assist and often directly execute EVT (engineering verification) and DVT (design validation) testing of components.  Work with software engineering team(s) in a global environment to
  • Assist sourcing & procurement team in development of requirements for outsourced components or modules (when applicable), as well as supporting BOM-level cost analysis of designed modules.
  • Assist manufacturing and operations with troubleshooting and manufacturing line support as needed.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software interactions using logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, oscilloscopes, and similar tools.
  • Support of the Crane legacy devices hardware and software.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot issues associated with systems integration of vending industry hardware, backend systems, and 3rd-party devices.
  • Properly store and maintain company design assets (schematics, source code, and documentation) in company repository.

Skills needed to perform this position:

  • Qualified candidates must have strong technical English written communication skills. Competency in spoken English is desired and viewed favorably.
  • Demonstrated experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Microsoft Visio is highly desired.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years direct experience in a product development environment, developing PCBs and associated power supplies, harnessing, and interfaces to other components (sensors, displays, input devices, and the like)
  • Experience designing solutions with 16-bit and 32-bit processors. 
  • Hand experience using Altium or similar schematic capture/electrical design tool suite required.
  • C programming experience required.
  • Work with ARM and MSP430 architecture desired.
  • Knowledge and experience implementing generic standard communication protocols (RS232, USB, RS485, CAN, Ethernet).  Interfaces experience unique to the vending industry (MDB, DEX) is a plus.
  • C programming experience required.
