Job Description

VOLT is currently searching for a success oriented, autonomous experienced Electronics Engineering Technician who enjoys working in a highly motivated and integrated product team involved in the production of custom electronic systems for a variety of US Government customers at our Columbia, MD location.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Assists in the design, fabrication, test check-out and troubleshooting down to the component level of high density electronic assemblies for quick paced contracts
  • Performs engineering level troubleshooting and root cause analysis of any hardware and software failures and feeds that information back to the production team to support continuous process improvements
  • Must be able to work from schematics, operating or repair manuals, engineering drawings and limited written or verbal instructions
  • Must be able to operate, troubleshoot, calibrate and maintain a host of engineering equipment including network analyzers, scopes and meters and complex equipment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Requires highly developed job knowledge/skills
  • Requires a High School Diploma and 8 years’ experience.
  • Working knowledge of electronics packaging incorporating high density printed wiring board assemblies, harnesses, antennas and complex mechanical fabrications
  • Must be able to work in a very dynamic development environment and willing to bounce between a variety of tasks
  • Some travel to customer sites may be required
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance and must meet stringent customer driven security screening requirements

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Microsoft Office Word, Excel skills and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Altium ECAD
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
