Job Description

VOLT is seeking an experienced Embedded Design engineer to support multiple programs in our client’s Electronic Systems division. The engineer will be responsible for design, development, and testing of Embedded Systems, Subsystems, and components.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Utilizing common commercial electrical analysis tools to design and analyze circuits and systems (i.e. LTspice, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Utilizing common commercial schematic capture and layout tools (i.e. Cadence, Altium, etc.)
  • Designing system architecture of complex Embedded Systems
  • Analyzing electrical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Designing, analyzing, testing, and evaluating embedded systems, subsystems, and components
  • Presenting design reviews to peer engineers and program management
  • Ownership of the day-to-day tactical execution duties for assigned programs
  • Assigning tasks and driving action items to closure
  • Identifying project challenges, recommending solutions, and removing roadblocks to program execution

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE               

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar field and 6 years of related experience

OR

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering or similar field and 4 years of related experience

DESIRED SKILLS               

  • Thorough technical understanding of embedded circuit design, with a focus on complex digital design
  • Experience integrating and troubleshooting complex systems
  • Experience with system analysis including power budgets and thermal analysis
  • Experience with common communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN, SPI, I2C, JTAG, etc.) • Working knowledge of C, C++, Java and Python
  • Self-motivated with a high sense of urgency
  • Experience working in a government or department of defense contracting environment
  • Ability to present to internal and external customer at all levels
