Job Description

Seeking a talented Electrical Engineer – The Woodlands, Texas

This individual will transition all PCBA (more than 36 separate SKUs) to new contract manufacturer, answering questions on component compatibility, board design, conformal coating and cleanliness requirements as well advise on appropriate testing that should be performed. Will support the quality department on initial samples and FAI.  Should be familiar with ATEX for traceability requirements. Candidate will also support other sustaining engineering questions as the resident electrical engineer—appropriate substitutions for end-of-life components, support team FMEA and other problem-solving exercises.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and sustain analog, digital, and RF designs and simulations for gas and flame detection transmitters, controllers, and accessories
  • Develop clear and concise technical specifications
  • Support Operations with design-for-test points and specifications, contract manufacturer guidelines and component substitutions
  • Support Regulatory with documentation and data required for product approvals
  • Provide development schedules and communicate status to team members and key stakeholders
  • Ensure products meet customer performance and quality requirements
  • Embrace a culture of design-for-reliability through DFMEAs, analysis and simulations, concept and design reviews, module and system testing, and verification and validation techniques 
  • Participate in peer reviews with internal and external team members
  • Participate in developing and improving design controls and our quality management process
  • Employ problem solving techniques to determine root cause and implement effective corrective actions

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in science or engineering discipline from an accredited university (EE preferred)
  • 5 years’ experience in electrical analog and digital circuit design in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Proficiency in product system architecture, system design, embedded systems, analog and digital circuits, software development and design specifications
  • Experience with ATEX, IECEx, CSA, FM, UL and/or FCC product certifications
  • Experience with design for hazardous locations
  • Experience with design for SIL compliance
  • Product knowledge and experience in Oil and Gas industry
