Position:              Manufacturing Engineer

Status:                  6 month contract

Job Location:     Lexington, KY

This six month contract is with an organization that is dedicated to being a leader in the digital transformation of energy.  The Manufacturing Engineer is a key role of the Manufacturing team. This role will be responsible for driving the assembly groups to world class performance and be responsible for the continuous improvement efforts of their team.

The right candidate will have a leadership mind, knowledge and implementation of best safety practices, a focus on Quality, Customer Service, and Plant productivity. Leadership skills and mechanical aptitude are both critical for this role. A Manufacturing Engineer must be an excellent leader, influencer, communicator and project leader at all levels within the organization. This role will require collaboration, and the right candidate needs to be proactive, exhibit strong leadership qualities and be able to adapt to a dynamic and fast changing environment.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationship across all levels of the organization.
  • Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma skills to address complex process opportunities with simple solutions.
  • Utilize the organization’s fundamentals implementing continuous improvement projects.
  • Identify constraints to achieving goals and collaborate to find and implement effective solutions via our Short Interval Management process
  • Develop manufacturing cost estimates, determine work standards, and develop and implement improvement within our processes.
  • Supports project launch, process tooling, fixture, and equipment design, purchase, and maintenance.
  • Pro-actively identify barriers and eliminate them
  • Mentor and develop team members for growth
  • Works on daily and long-term problems/projects using Quality and SPS tools including PFMEA, Control Plan, 8D, CAPEX, SAP, work orders, CAD, etc.
  • Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criterion (based upon organization’s principles) for obtaining results.
  • Works with other engineers, designers, maintenance technicians, SPVs, and hourly line associates to effectively solve issues, implement solutions, and support IDEA/ continuous/ Safety/ Quality improvement implementation ALL UNDER the organization’s principles.
  • Develops process, safety, ergonomic, and material handling improvement solutions
  • Serves manufacturing operations as KEY SUPPORT person leading resolutions to problems, implementing improvement, and leading projects to completion!
  • Working knowledge and experience with short interval management cycle 1 thru 4 based concepts and processes.
  • Identifies problems, arrives at Root Cause, and implements corrective action and improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, preferably within Engineering based discipline (Mechanical, Industrial) but will consider business or other related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Prior experience in Value Stream analysis, Lean Concepts, with a solid understanding of lean manufacturing and root cause analysis as well as Line Architecture and Design with Material Providing and Handling concepts
  • Ability to drive process and culture change in a mature organization
  • Evidence of project execution, implementation of continuous improvement with measured results, and demonstrated project management experiences.
