Job Description

Engineering Build Technician

2nd shift

Job Summary

  • Mechanically assemble and wire complex automation equipment, machines, and fixtures starting with machined or purchased components
  • Electrically wire equipment including electrical panels, connectors, and wiring harnesses
  • Install and route pneumatics
  • Assist engineers with new prototype builds
  • Communicate any assembly problems with machinists and design engineers as necessary
  • Collaborate with engineering to improve machine design for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance
  • Perform bench work including any necessary secondary operations such as filing, de-burring, grinding, and lapping
  • Use power meters and measurement tools (verniers, micrometers, indicators)
  • Test assemblies prior to validation to ensure expected machine/tool operational performance.

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to fully assemble custom designed manufacturing equipment (mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, plumbing)
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience wiring electrical panels
  • Experience with AC and DC electrical wiring
  • Experience wiring pumps, motors, heaters, transformers, relays
  • Experience wiring and troubleshooting PLC or microcontrollers
  • Ability to read bills of material and interpret mechanical, electrical, and assembly drawings
  • Experience assembling automation equipment, machines, or complex systems
  • Understanding of electronic sensors and downstream integrated inspection equipment

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with 15+ years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly, machine building, machine maintenance.
  • AS degree in electrical engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology, or equivalent is a plus
