Job Description

     Seeking Entry-Level Engineering Technical Writer

Through niche recruiting expertise and project management, VWS delivers solutions in IT, Technology, Engineering, Accounting, Administrative, Call Center, Human Resources, Technical and Creative Communication, and Manufacturing.

Volt is actively recruiting for an entry-level Engineering Technical Writer to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Monroe, NC. Position is temporary to hire for the right candidate. Candidates will need to be available to work 40 hours weekly.


The ideal candidate will use acquired skills and education to complete a variety of technical documentation activities under the direction of the technical writing team. The candidate will work collaboratively with Technical Writers, Engineers, Manufacturing, and other technical disciplines; interface with internal customers and corporate personnel; and track assigned tasks. Candidate will work with moderate work direction, and can identify issues/problems but may need assistance in resolving. Candidate will be updating process drawings and label valves. Will be reviewing all piping systems in building; identifying and correcting any and all drawings; very detailed; extensive experience required. The person in this role should be a strong communicator, who is able to work effectively with peers and management alike in a fast-paced global environment.

Duties Include:
• Completing minor edits and revisions to existing documents
• Releasing completed documents, literature kits, and documentation CDs
• Coordinating translations of user manuals for multiple product lines, initiating and tracking purchase orders for translation services

Basic Qualifications:
• Associate’s Degree or higher in English, Communications, Journalism, or other writing-intensive program from an accredited college or university
• English-based writing and verbal skills
• General computer / word processing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of basic graphics software tools, such as Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw
• Proficient in Adobe FrameMaker, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Background/experience in technical writing, manufacturing, or engineering
• Detail-oriented
