Job Description

Volt is seeking to hire a dynamic, high energy and accomplished  Engineering Sourcing Specialist  for a global company that provides hardware/software solutions to the cash processing/banking industry. 

This is a direct hire position that reports to the Supply Chain Manager.  The Engineering Sourcing Specialist  is responsible for assisting with the Strategic Sourcing of components and assemblies.  The role will focus on supplier selection for both current and new business with a major focus on cost reduction and quality improvements.


  • Supplier Selection and Development for both current and forward programs, work closely with Engineering to ensure only the best suppliers are designed in
  • Achieve lowest Total Cost of Ownership (Price, Lead Times, Quality, Payment Terms, T&C’s)
  • Ensure company and site cost targets are achieved
  • Deliver company quality targets from supply base
  • Manage Supplier Disputes
  • Manage Supplier Exit Strategies
  • Sourcing from Best Cost Countries and Emerging Markets
  • Co-ordinate the departmental VA/VE program
  • Ensure Early Supply Involvement with Engineering on future programs and VA/VE activities
  • Manage a program where suppliers actively make Cost Reduction suggestions
  • Identify new suppliers to support capacity / rate increase
  • Develop Commodity Strategies
  • Negotiation of Long Term Agreements
  • To support the behavior of working as a team, sharing best practices, and collaborating with colleagues outside of own sphere of business.
  • To ensure full participation in the performance development process and maintain an up to date record of all training and development activities/programs.
  • To always act and behave in a way compliant with all company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to values and behaviors, environmental health and safety, ethics, and codes of conduct, as it is through living our values that we strengthen the culture of our business

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Degree in Design or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Commercial awareness of market trends and emerging economies
  • Proven Negotiation Skills
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (preferably Black Belt)
  • Experience of working in a EMS or Automotive environment
  • Must have worked with suppliers in China / India
