VOLT’s client is looking for an Engineering Tech

This is an estimated 6-9 month Contingent/Temporary position in Spokane, WA and offered through Volt Technical Resources located in Spokane, WA. We are among the largest IT staffing companies in the US for contract/temporary and direct hire placements and support many of the top rated IT companies in the Pacific Northwest.

Summary:

In this role, the Engineering Tech will be responsible for assisting the engineering department with both developing and sustaining new products.  A successful candidate will have strong soldering experience utilizing a microscope on fine pitch components, ability/experience working in a fast-paced engineering environment, ability to follow instructions and clearly communicate with other technicians and engineers.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the development engineers with soldering and building prototypes
  • Assist engineers with validation testing
  • Debug units, including performing failure analysis and documenting any observations/problems
  • Responsible for management and care of test equipment
  • Prototype rework, assembly and tracking
  • Monitor lab helpdesk ticketing system for support tasks
  • Support both onsite and offsite engineering teams by helping setup systems for test
  • Help maintain shared resource inventory for remote access and development
  • Moving systems, system teardown and lab cleanup

Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand electrical design schematics.
  • Strong prototyping and rework skills, including capability to do surface mount rework on printed circuit assemblies
  • Hands-on debug of high speed communication electronics using digital oscilloscopes and logic analyzers
  • Ethernet networking experience highly desirable
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision and be highly self-motivated

Qualifications:

  • AAS in Electronics or equivalent is required
  • 1-2 years of hardware design lab support or validation lab experience is desired
