VOLT is looking for an individual to work on site with our client John Deere Enterprise Electronics Group (EEG) as an Electrical & Computer Technician as a contingent part of their Engineering and Test Infrastructure Team.

The primary responsibility will be to provide onsite support for Hardware In the Loop (HIL) simulators that are located Globally within various Deere facilities.The primary location for work will be in Iowa/Illinois in Waterloo, Des Moines and the Quad Cities (Moline).Some work may extend to other Deere locations within the US. The position itself will be located in Waterloo, Iowa at the John Deere Product Engineering Center.

Additional responsibilities will be to support the EEG Product Engineering Teams with infrastructure needs and support in the form of building and integrating test and prototype hardware/software systems.

The Enterprise Electronics Group is a team of Electrical Hardware and Embedded Software Engineers that provide Enterprise Wide Product Engineering Solutions to the Platform teams. Key solution areas owned by EEG are: Electronic Control Units (ECUs), Advanced Sensors, System Engineering and Architecture, Common Component Software and Hardware/Software In the Loop Testing systems.

Specific Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Provide onsite support during startup, testing and validation of new and modified HIL systems. Perform electrical troubleshooting, modification and corrective actions as required.
  • Provide real-time support to troubleshoot and correct electrical issues on HIL simulators or EEG Test benches to maintain operational readiness. 
  • Construct wire harnesses, load boxes and test benches in support of HIL units.
  • Construct various electronic systems in support of EEG product engineering needs.  This may include wire harnesses, cables, load centers, breakout boxes, instrumentation, and test benches.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Electronics Technical Degree or commensurate experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read electrical schematics, design component layouts and fabricate cables and assemblies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an excellent communicator
  • Strong time management & organizational skills

Desired Skills & Experience

  • 2 years of experience as an electronics and computer technician installing and supporting moderately complex hardware/software systems with embedded controls.
  • Experience building and maintaining Hardware In the Loop (HIL) testing simulators and systems – vehicle systems preferred.
