Job Description


The Business Analyst elicits, analyzes, translates and manages customer requirements into system solutions and acts as the subject matter expert for internally developed and package software solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:
Strategy:

  • Represent the business community during analysis, requirements and development phases
  • Elicit, analyze, document, review, and receive approval for defined business requirements
  • Create use cases/user stories and all modeling artifacts as needed
  • Schedule requirements reviews with the Development and QA teams as needed
  • Perform system feature demonstrations as needed
  • Conduct and complete fit/gap analysis and prototype sessions
  • Proactively identify new features and functions to improve business processes
  • Field system functionality questions received from the Volt community in a timely manner
  • Notify management of any issues or target date dependencies/slippages
  • Perform testing to ensure requirements are satisfied by proposed solution and address any issues discovered


Collaboration:

  • Meet with the business to understand their business needs
  • Collaborate with colleagues during requirements definition, design, and all other phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Support developers during the development and implementation phases
  • Work with management to ascertain priorities, review documentation, and provide status


Leadership:

  • Act as the ERP subject matter expert and support other VIS-IT teams (as requested)
  • Act as a liaison to business community to address issues and identify business requirements


Compliance:

  • Understand and conform with IT Controls and SOX Requirements
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation
  • Request management approvals for all major system enhancements and communicate to all participating team members any change to the requirements after approval
  • Utilize Six Sigma Experience



Position Qualifications:

  • College degree in software or systems engineering, computer science, information systems management or the equivalent
  • 5 years of ERP experience as an ERP Functional/ Business Analyst or related experience
  • 5 years of experience working with ERP HCM applications - preferably Payroll and Time and Labor
  • Strong understanding of PC/MS Windows environment and ERP development tools (SQL, XML, BI Publisher, etc.)
  • PeopleSoft experience is a plus

  • Ability to effectively write functional requirements, use cases, and other analysis/design artifacts (user stories, storyboards, screen prototypes, etc.)
  • Knowledge of relational databases, database tools and database design
  • Knowledge of integration tools and design methods
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall software development life cycles (SDLC)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in a fast paced dynamic environment
  • Staffing experience desirable
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally
