Volt Workforce Solutions has partnered with a major aerospace company and is seeking a Facility / EHS Manager in Santa Fe Springs.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

Under direction of the President/CEO, performs a wide range of activities related to facility maintenance, capital expenditure projects, environmental compliance, and plant and safety reporting requirements. Uses sound judgment in decisions that influence equipment selection, facilities planning, contractor selection, facility security, liability and fire and accident prevention. Directly manages maintenance/facilities personnel.

SPECIFIC JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Facility and Equipment Maintenance:

  • Directly manages maintenance/facilities personnel, and is responsible for all      maintenance department activities.
  • Schedules and prioritizes major repair work to meet production needs.
  • Maintains preventive maintenance programs for all vital pieces of equipment.
  • Manages all outside facility/maintenance contractors.
  • Procures all necessary maintenance supplies and services, and ensures that the expenditures are made in conformance with Company Budgetary and Purchase Approval Guidelines.

Capital Project Management:

  • Manages all capital expenditure projects related to facilities upgrade, equipment replacement, new equipment and processes, environmental compliance and safety.
  • For each project, coordinates the justification, general design, the selection of equipment, the  estimated costs.
  • Manages all phases of each capital project, ensuring that each project is completed on time and within the approved budget.

Environmental Compliance/Safety and Housekeeping:

  • Ensures that the plant and facility remains in compliance with all applicable federal, state and local regulations involving environmental protection for air, water and soil.
  • Evaluates and identifies, in concert with engineering, required safety and personal protection  equipment for employees are incorporated and practiced in accordance with OSHA-mandated requirements.
  • Annually reviews and updates Company safety and environmental policies to ensure Best Management Practices and Technologies are used to meet or exceed all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Prepares and updates the Company Emergency Response and Evacuation Plan. Ensures that employees are adequately trained by holding regular classes and drills.
  • Ensures that all required quarterly and annual inspections and permit renewals of affected OSHA, AQMD, and so forth, equipment are properly conducted and done on time.
  • Sits as permanent member of the Safety Committee.
  • Conducts and documents Company general safety meetings and all required OSHA training elements.
  • Ensures that required fire protection equipment is procured, maintained and distributed throughout the facility, and that monthly inspections are conducted.          

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Principles and practices of facilities management including: plant layout and design, press operation, pressure vessel operation.

Effective oral and written communication skills within a diverse range of audiences and settings; persuasion and negotiation of conflicts and problems; assessing staffing and fiscal needs; evaluating fiscal and financial reports, forms and data; interpreting government regulations dealing with environmental compliance; identifying and resolving administrative problems; working long and irregular hours under pressure conditions; delegating responsibility and achieving results through subordinates; and maintaining financial

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA from an accredited college or university with major course work in mechanical or industrial engineering and/or equivalent, or equivalent work experience; and
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience performing facility planning, maintenance and environmental compliance work in a manufacturing environment.
  • 6 Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing experience considered a plus.

OTHER:

Ensure that all work areas are kept clean.  Maintain housekeeping of personal work area, work department areas, and overall company surroundings to Reinhold standards of safety and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday, with evening/weekend overtime as may be needed.
  • Sit, working at desk, and use computer as needed for duration of work shift.
  • Stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull as needed for duration of work shift.
  • Move safely within and between manufacturing/warehouse/office buildings and floors, using interior and exterior stairs as needed.
  • Lift up to 15-20 lbs. as needed to pull/move/store file folders, binders, etc.
  • Visit/travel to customer and vendor sites as may be needed.
