Facilities Maintenance Manager

Direct Hire Position.   Indianapolis, IN

The manager in this position will be responsible for planning and directing maintenance activities to ensure the effective operation of plant and building equipment.  Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Plans, schedules, establishes priorities and sets deadlines to ensure completion of maintenance activities in a safe and compliant environment. Manages preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  2. Assists subordinates in set up of new equipment.
  3. Assists in 6 Safety Training and ensure the maintenance subordinates are in compliance with regulatory requirements. Ensure the maintenance and safety manuals are kept current and filed properly.
  4. Performs housekeeping and safety equipment inspections as required; attends and/or conducts meetings.
  5. Maintains records of equipment failures and provides needed information and data to the Plant Manager. Create outage plans for short and long term periods.
  6. Interviews, hires (includes locating and screening of candidates), trains, evaluates, disciplines, and discharges maintenance personnel. Takes steps to maintain morale and motivate maintenance personnel.
  7. Acts as a resource on difficult repair jobs and may occasionally perform repairs if scheduling requires.
  8. Other duties as assigned may include having to work with hazardous materials & repetitively lift up to 60 lbs. repetitively.

Qualifications to be considered: 

  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (preferred) or equivalent.
  • Experience: Five to ten years of progressive maintenance experience with strong motivational and leadership skills, and have experience not only in supervising technical personnel, but administrative as well.
  • Knowledge & Abilities: chemical operations facility, pipefitting, welding, familiar with centrifugal and air diaphragm pumps.
  • Ability to wear PPE, including full face and SCBA respirators.
  • Knowledge of confined space entry and rescue.
  • Ability to operate all types of lifts, fork trucks and hand tools.
