Job Description

Volt is looking for local candidates only for a 3rd shift Factory Automation Test Engineering roll to work on-site with our customer John Deere in East Moline, IL on a 3-year contingent assignment. As a Factory Automation Testing Engineer, you will work on supporting Precision Planters current production and new product programs for various sites. In addition, you will

  • Support the design team in the development of components, controllers and end of line testing.
  • Support the design team to understand the needs to program equipment used on planters.
  • Support the writing of new test procedures for the testing of the components, controllers and end of line testing using company created testing software.
  • Support the writing of new programming procedures for the programming of the controllers using Deere created programming software.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for current production and experimental factory builds.
  • Support the deployment of new testing and programming on factory floor in a union environment.

  • 3rd shift position, must be able to work 11:00pm – 7:00am
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1+ Years’ experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)/database/software development.
  • Minimum of 1+ years’ experience with machine control hardware and software design.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to obtain information from a variety of sources including ability to communicate and coordinate his/her activities with management, production and maintenance supervisors, process and product engineers, production and skilled trades personnel, and outside contractors and suppliers.

A strong candidate will also have:

  • Experience interfacing/communicating with shop floor equipment via Ethernet
  • Understanding of CAN (Controller Area Network) and AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture).
  • Experience with SQL Server based software
  • Ability to investigate a request for revising an existing machine or system or creating a new design
  • Experience with control engineering applications: AutoCAD Electrical and Rockwell/Allen Bradley suites
  • Experience with multiple communication protocols (i.e. Ethernet, EIP, Telnet, Serial, CAN, DeviceNet)
