Job Description

Position: RF Electrical Field Engineer II

Location: Ashburn, VA

Status: 6-month contract

Volt Workforce Solutions has an immediate opening for an Electrical Engineer II with our client in their Ashburn, VA facility.

This position is responsible for completing analyses and compiling technical reports related to microwave network design, RF measurements, and RF safety.  The position will process field survey data using desktop software tools and integrate such data into a final customer deliverable.  The candidate may on occasion perform field measurements or surveys to collect relevant site or path data.  Microwave design and path surveys are completed in multiple frequency bands such as 5.8GHz, 6 GHz, 11GHz, 18GHz and 23GHz.

This position works as a part of a team with other engineers, technical assistants, project managers, and departments. Candidates for this position must consistently exhibit good customer service skills orally and in writing. This includes satisfactory turn-around time on projects, good organization, keeping the client informed of work status, and being responsive to client requests.
 

Candidates must be able to travel (approximately 40% of the time) and function autonomously when in the field.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Design microwave networks using microwave design software tools
  2. Perform RF safety studies using desktop software
  3. Prepare RF safety compliance reports
  4. Compile technical reports utilizing field collected path and site survey data
  5. Conduct path surveys in the field to verify line-of-sight objectives
  6. Conduct site surveys to identify antenna placement locations or verify other network design parameters
  7. Conduct site surveys to identify equipment requirements for a microwave installation
  8. Serve as liaison between client, industry consultants and internal engineering staff

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field and at least 3 to 5 years’ experience
  • Ability to travel approximately 40% of the time
  • Qualified candidates will have a working knowledge of:
    • Microwave path design
    • Microwave path survey process
    • Microwave propagation
    • Experience with geographic coordinate systems and map datums
    • RF propagation
    • RF power density measurements
    • Technologies such as CDMA, GSM, UMTS and LTE.
    • Proficiency in Windows suite of office tools
