Position Summary 
The Industrial Controls Technician prepares and loads Guardian PLC control programs and provides commissioning and start-up assistance, operator training, troubleshooting and maintenance of Guardian control panels used for the control of reciprocating/screw compressors, generators and multi-phase pumps. 

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience as an Industrial Controls/Compressor Controls Technician. 
  • Past experience with compressor controls programming is considered as asset 

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • This position is responsible for the following tasks and duties: 
  • Analyzing technical data, designs, or preliminary specifications such as P&IDs, schematics, etc. for the purpose of configuring Guardian control panels for specific client applications. 
  • Conferring with technical and panel shop personnel to ensure control panels are assembled in accordance with schematics, wiring and P&ID diagrams and applicable regulatory standards. 
  • Creating the operating and maintenance manuals used by the client’s operating personnel post start up. 
  • Training field personnel in the operation of the Guardian control panels. 
  • Traveling to the client field location and assisting with post-sale commissioning and startup. May include travel within and outside Canada. 
  • Performing field based repairs, inspections, required adjustments, testing and troubleshooting using test equipment or precision measuring instruments. 
  • Actively participating in Quality Management and Health and Safety programs. 
  • Reporting any existing or potential safety and quality nonconformities to a supervisor, Quality Manager or Health and Safety Coordinator. 
  • 50%+ travel required 
  • Contractor to supply truck, mileage reimbursed 

Certifications: Instrumentation Technology diploma or equivalent 
 

Training Requirements 

  • Health, Safety and Environment Orientation 
  • Quality Management System 
  • Electrical Safety, WHMIS, H2S, First Aid and other training as required 

Education: Instrumentation technology program graduate or equivalent (training in electro-mechanical control systems using PLCs and HMIs or related is required)
