Volt is seeking an experienced Financial Services Supervisor for a DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY in the Quad City area. Great pay and benefits that start day one!

Job Description:

The Financial Services Supervisor will be responsible for providing overall financial cost information and analysis for the Northern Business Unit (NBU) facilities and preparation and management of the complete accounting process for one or more of the Cut-to-Length (CTL) facilities. The position is responsible to generate data and provide oversight of key cost measures such as scrap and slag processing services, production energy (natural gas, electricity, oxygen, argon, nitrogen), and key inventory areas. The Financial Services Supervisor will also support the Assistant Operations Controller in crucial areas such as Sales Taxes, and Accounts Payable.

  • Generating all financial and cost accounting information for Cut-to-Length facilities. Specifically, this function requires the gathering, analysis, and manipulation of data required to generate the monthly CTL Cost Report. (This data package is presented as the primary accounting report for these facilities available to Operations and Corporate Management.) The position reviews the monthly results bringing focus to key control areas, namely: inventory costs and controls, production statistics and results, and overall profitability. This position regularly attends senior operational management meetings to review and discuss issues
  • Oversight of the largest supplier contracts including the verification of data and payment processing. This includes major maintenance contracts and production energy supply. The position attends meetings with contractors and discuss areas of mutual interest and assists with resolving conflicts
  • Oversight of Insurance and Risk Management function. Processes include: advising of possible insurable incidents, identifying areas of risk, maintaining site-specific vehicle registration and insurance information, obtaining appropriate data concerning insurable incidents; in conjunction with Safety, provide applicable information and detail to insurance brokers and insurers; oversee other risk management duties as assigned by Corporate Treasurer.
  • Managing and providing Finance Department approval and Sales and Use tax coding for all Inputs, Parts, and Service Purchasing activity for the facility. (This function requires a specific knowledge base concerning Iowa/Alabama Sales and Use Tax legislation and law)
  • Presenting ad hoc control items of concern through statistical review and detailed analysis
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations for assigned facility accounting and specific accounts; responsible for investigation and clearance where certain areas of discrepancy are uncovered
  • Regularly attending and participating in Operational Management meetings as well as annual CTL facility inventory count and verification;
  • Supervising of the Accounts Payable department activities at Montpelier and similar activities at the CTL facility
  • Supervision of Accounts Payable Assistants day to day tasks and assist in training Accounts Payables duties
  • Oversees Montpelier/Mobile R & D tax credit
  • Oversees Finance portion of Purchase Requisition review for the OUR CLIENT operations group as required

Education and Experience Level:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
  • Previous experience in manufacturing environment of at least 3 years
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated skill working with both spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Strong organizational and self-motivational traits


  • Previous experience in Cost/Managerial Accounting in a process-costing environment
