Job Description

We have our eye out for a Technical Services Representative to help support Customer technical product information.

What does that mean?

Well, if you worked where you have to follow Regulatory Guidelines (such as USDA & FDA) then keep reading. In this role it's extremely helpful to understand what Kosher, Organic, Gluten Free, Non GMO regulatory labeling are. You would work on finished product labels and technical information such as, ingredient statements, NLEA, annual label verification compliance, and validation of legal claims. Thinking like a shopper, what you see on the label at a grocery store, is what this person is responsible for.

What is a typical day?

This person would check in with the Technical Services Manager for the work priorities but most of the work communication is done via email. This position, although physically sits in the Carson facility, assists in supporting our 5 US locations (CA, TX, PA, NC & NC Bread). Because we work with other states, in multiple time zones, moving at a faster pace is necessary. The TSR works with Research & Development, reviewing the NLEA and understanding the legal claim information for customers on new innovative products. The TSR also verifies new artwork and all label information for products hitting the markets. A keen eye for the smallest details is a must for this task!

Are there any challenges in this role? How do I deal with them?

Like in any role, day to day issues surface and part of the role is to think outside of the box, review alternate suppliers/vendors, comparing USDA/ FDA regulations, while maintaining the business integrity of the customer. Staying organized is super important to be successful. When dealing with multiple customers you have to know who's who so we can keep making them happy!

What's hot for today...some customers need 24-48 hour turnaround on responses and you need to react quickly. We do have long term relationship customers, plus continue to grow and obtaining new ones. No two customers are alike, so you would need to research and understand what their requirements and focuses are for their products.

Ideal Candidates

  • Required B.S. Degree from a 4-year university in Food Science or related field
  • 2-4 years food industry or equivalent experience or internships
  • Experience using Genesis Software, super helpful
  • USDA/FDA Regulatory Labeling Training
  • Experience in reading, analyzing, and interpreting professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Great communication skills for writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Advanced working skills in Microsoft Office, Word , Excel, PowerPoint
