Volt is seeking a Foundry Engineer Liaison to work onsite at our client’s facility in Hodges, SC.  This is a contingent position forecasted for 24 months.

Within this role, you will:

  • Provide a direct interface between Product Engineers (design control owners) and Hodges personnel and be a key member of the team working to identify and transition castings to Hodges
  • Use technical, program management, communication and supply chain/sourcing strategy skills to successfully transition parts into the foundry with associated PPAP
  • Manage new product programs including coordination of product design, component processing, to assure meeting customer expectations while meeting functional and cost targets
  • Facilitate prioritization for NPI, CPI, NTI, and NSI programs between Product Group and Hodges Castings
  • Provide guidance to design teams from in depth knowledge of process for cost effective designs
  • Provide required engineering support for resolution of factory support and CPI quality issues
  • Support implementation of the Quality Intensive Care Program for Hodges Castings and drive within the Product Engineering team
  • Work with teams to ensure conformity to quality processes
  • Create and maintain an organizational climate/culture which encourages innovation, collaboration, excitement/commitment and a sense of urgency

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 8-10 years of related experience
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and solid models
  • Understanding of APQP and PPAP processes
  • Understanding of gray and ductile iron castings and associated foundry processes as a Design Engineer or Foundry Engineer
  • Experience with 3D part scanning
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven ability to work remote from direct workgroup while providing technical and program support to the process partner daily
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects with multiple tasks being conducted in parallel, while maintaining plan flexibility should immediate needs change
  • Ability to maintain direct workgroup focus and perspective while supporting process partner goals and objectives
  • Ability to travel domestically to other client and supplier sites, up to 25%
