Job Description

I am looking to hire an Aerospace/Engineering Translator (from French to English) for our Client in the Aerospace industry, in Oakville, ON for approximately a 6 months contract with the possibility of extension.

  • Pay Rate: Depending on experience between $34-36/hr (as a T4 Employee)
  • Hours per week: 37.5 hours ; 7.5 hours paid time per day
  • Work Location: Oakville, ON L6L5Y7

This position is primarily for translating and interpreting French into English. It is a contract position within our Client’s Aftermarket team. The Technical Translator’s primary function is to translate and publish technical instructions from French to English, and to develop other technical documents as needed. 
The following is a breakdown of specific, day-to-day tasks to be performed by the Technical Translator position: 

  • With in-depth knowledge of the English language, perform translation of written text from French into English in various business and social settings. 
  • Translate technological and engineering documentation, with attention to fact and nuance, so that the intent and tone of the original meaning is preserved. 
  • Edit, standardize, proofread, revise and finalize translated material prepared by other employees and contractors. 
  • Organize translated material and finalize translation according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. 
    Prepare project reports and documentation. 
  • Research technical and scientific phraseology pertinent to the assigned projects. 
  • Consult with experts in specialist areas; retain and develop specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation. 


  • MUST be adequately Fluent in French language.
  • A qualified candidate is required to obtain and present specialized information within strict accuracy and format requirements, and must possess the highly specialized knowledge of technical writing and translation. In order to duly perform the job duties described above, a qualified candidate must demonstrate the following skills and abilities: 
    • Technical Knowledge - This position requires the individual to have good background in engineering and/or aerospace language. 
    • Writing - Communicating effectively with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the reader/audience. 
    • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, grammar, and history.
  • Candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR and CCGP
