Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions are looking for someone who likes to get their hands dirty to work as a Gas Compressor Mechanic role in San Diego, CA.  Our client is a major manufacturer of gas powered turbines and they need someone to assemble and test parts.  These engines are huge, so attention to detail and a safety conscious mindset are essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, disassemble, internal components and sub-assemblies to complete compressors
  • Perform installation, removal, disassembly, and repair of precision dry gas seals. Maintain training and certification requirements through supplier-provided training
  • Set up and operate balancing machines to balance gas compressor parts and rotor assemblies to critical requirements.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and perform safety audits.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts in Safety, Velocity, and Cost, and support the overall departments goals.
  • Use specialized computer programs for electrical and mechanical run outs.
  • Inspect parts, components, and assemblies prior to installation.
  • Operate/use various equipment/tools including; precision measuring instruments, multimeters, proximeters, specialized induction heaters, hydraulic stretch tooling, pullers, torches, forklift, tug, build stand elevators, and overhead cranes.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with engines
  • Working knowledge of gas compressor machinery
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow directions.
  • Must have experience with forklifts and cranes
  • Man-lift harness experience and fall protection training would be preferred
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting and other labor-intensive duties
  • Proven experience using hand & power tools
  • Must be able to read and understand operating instruction sheets; reading blue print experience a plus.

Hours: Second Shift (2pm - 10pm) 

Pay: $17/hr
