Job Description

Volt is actively recruiting for a temporary skilled worked to work with one of our clients, located in Costa Mesa, CA and conduct the following:

Job Summary:

            Under moderate supervision, researches and compiles verbal and written data to prepare engineering documents for engineering data entry; operates computer and standard office equipment and performs a variety of clerical duties; and performs related duties as assigned.

Reports to:  Supervisor Engineering

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates personal computer using word processing and software programs to create, store, revise and retrieve Engineering records and documents
  • Sorts and files assigned groups of engineering documents and drawings in a reference file
  • May enter data from prepared bills of material and documents in Production Management System (PMS) database
  • Inspects for corrections for data entry, format or content
  • May duplicate documents using copy machines
  • Scan documents/drawings and organize digital documents
  • Enter supplemental data into ERP system
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations



  • Equivalent to a high school graduation, preferably supplemented by data entry and clerical experience


  • Basic knowledge of engineering, purchasing and print room procedures
  • Basic knowledge of production methods, production control functions, engineering release systems, purchasing and inventory procedures, and assembly procedures
  • Basic knowledge of marketing and sales practices, product lines, and accounting methods
  • Skill in operation of duplicating equipment, personal and mainframe computers
  • Skill in applying mainframe and personal computer software applications programs
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and material orders
  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to maintain concentration to ensure detailed and accurate records
  • Ability to train and check the work of others
  • Ability to file documents alphabetically and numerically

Physical Requirements

  • Requires bending, stretching, and reaching for filing and retrieving records from upper and lower file drawers in office and storage areas and print room
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers and otehr related office equipment 
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors where temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems
  • Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the work day; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the work day
  • Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 15 lbs
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined
