Job Description

Job Purpose:

Candidates must be able to adhere to existing procedures in the physical loading of vehicles and equipment into ocean containers utilizing safe practices. Adhere to current and future company policies so as to prevent any damages to vehicles during the initial shipping process from factory to container.  Develop and continue to grow knowledge of loading procedures to support and strengthen customer relationships, product safety, personnel safety and careful handling. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Pulling

  • Find and identify cars (by labeling) in the warehouse lot per the load plans
  •  Inspect equipment - properly and accurately fill out paperwork
  • Use forklift to move identified car into the stationary zone
  • Move equipment and vehicles from line to shipping container with Forklift with forklift attachment, stringo, and sometimes by driving cars

2. Prepping:

  • Move Raks from the Rak station to the front of the container with forklift
  • Remove/cut the metal bonding with metal scissors
  • Install the single rak pieces inside the container
  • Drill floor to install raks
  • Use 3-tier and 4-tier ladder to tie down straps
  • Install pullies on the raks by using ladder

3. Loading

  • Lift cars and boats using chain hoist (manually and repeatedly)
  • Lift hoist chain to a height of approximately 4-feet
  • Install straps, braces, and padding to loads to prevent shifting or damage during shipment
  • Kneel to install straps and wheel chocks
  •  Inspect equipment - properly and accurately fill out paperwork
  • Use force to strap cars/boats
  • Carry out the methods to support existing procedures and prevent physical injury and/or damages to vehicles during the loading process
  • Work in confined space (Example: up to 4 cars in one container)

4. General

  • Bill wood frames for freight – use saw machine and nail gun
  • Cut wood
  • Use of PPE
  • Maintain the work areas in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Work effectively and efficiently in a team environment 
  • Complete all work in an efficient and timely manner
  • Follow all current/future company policies and procedures
  • Adhere to safety practices at all times
  • Help in other areas as needed

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
  • Ability to climb stairs and ramps
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds directly over your head while standing
  • Twist body repeatedly to tie straps
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, squat, lift, grasp, talk, hear and have a good vision
  • Must be able to manage confined space entry and climb ladders and steps
  • Ability to work outside in environmental conditions which at times include extreme heat or extreme cold
  • Have the ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support repetitive or continuous movements
  • Have the ability to be on your feet for extended periods of time and repeatedly lift racks
  • The ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects
