Possess knowledge to perform such tasks as:  Use measuring devices such as scales, ruler, go/no-go gauges and charts in the performance of work not requiring interpretation or where action to be taken is apparent. Make simple reports and records and use basic data entry equipment. Operate equipment with basic control panels - few buttons and/or toggles, powered mobile equipment, etc. as an aid to performing simple tasks where little knowledge is required. Perform work of a semi-repetitive nature. Carry out simple verbal or written instructions and use basic math principles. 

Operator assistant must have the ability to work from both written and verbal instructions and follow policies and procedures (which requires the application of some judgment and selectivity).

Physical considerations: Normal work day; 1 hour sitting, 4 hours standing, 3 hours walking. Occasional requirements: bend/stoop, squat, twist, climb height, reach above shoulder level, crouch, kneel, balance, push/pull, and carry 0-50 pounds. Frequent requirements: lift: 0-50 pounds. Any weight over 50 pounds will not be lifted. Repetitive movements: feet-no, hands-both, hands firm grasping. Operator assistants will be around moving machinery and are required to do frequent flexing. Work with solvent and acrylic based adhesive.

Job Description:

Assists production operator in equipment setup and changeover following established SOP or standard guidelines. Assist production operator in making splices. Prepare and apply the proper packaging materials, labels, and identification for products per required standards or special instructions. Assists in loading and unloading input material/jumbos at the machines.  Follows production standards special allocation lots, ancillary documentation, and customer special instructions regarding additional support as needed. Assists production operator in troubleshooting problems, notifying maintenance or escalating for additional support as needed.  Perform basic computer skilled tasks; word processing, data entry & general record-keeping in addition to general production reporting. Visually inspect output to ensure it meets quality per standards and customer expectations. Cut, print, relocate, & deliver cores and/or packaging materials to work centers as needed. Utilize necessary associated equipment to complete product packing process as required (hoists, palletizer, heavy roll handlers, box sealer, conveyors etc.). Participate in plant lean processes (shift reviews, Kaizen events, 5S etc.). Always maintain neat and orderly work area. Observe all safety rules, workplace regulations and policies as required. Work OT as defined by Department and Plant policies. Complete all required employee training. Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested by leadership. Perform simple manual tasks such as assembly, selecting, etc. at a steady pace where accuracy and dexterity are required. Make simple set-ups, adjustments, or operate equipment using instruments and gauges is routine. Operate simple powered mobile equipment. Operator conducts finished goods testing specific to a product. Operator inattention could cause financial impact in wasted material and product.

Responsible for the safe operation of all converting and support equipment to prevent damage or possible shutdown. Low probability of damage to equipment.
