Volt | Network Technician | Spokane, WA

SUMMARY

We are seeking an individual with networking knowledge for a local client in Spokane, WA.  A successful candidate will have strong networking equipment experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:  

  • Assist teams in Testing, Maintenance and Repair of new and existing Network hardware.
  • A successful candidate will participate with Test Engineers in Testing new hardware as well as updating firmware and performing general maintenance of hardware prior, during and after testing. Other responsibilities would include troubleshooting and performing rework of failing hardware. Candidate will be expected to have good hardware engineering debug and technician skills as well as being familiar with network architectures.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide troubleshooting and test support for the equipment.
  • Perform general maintenance and firmware update to existing hardware in test harnesses.
  • Assist other technicians with prototype bring-up and rework.
  • Maintain equipment and part inventories.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • AS in EE and 7 years’ experience (or equivalent overall experience) desirable.
  • AS in IT and 13 years’ experience which includes troubleshooting, installing, configuring, maintaining, and upgrading networking equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, access points, etc.) (or equivalent overall experience) highly desirable.
  • Networking certifications a plus (e.g., COMPTIA Network+, CCNA, etc.)
  • Hands-on debug of networking equipment.
  • Linux and Ethernet networking, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SSH, Telnet, SCP, HTTP(S), SSL, LACP, STP, VLANs, and routing protocols highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical design schematics.
  • Some prototyping and rework skills, including surface mount rework on printed circuit assemblies.
  • Experience with single and multi-mode fiber, short- and long-range transceivers, and SFP28 and QSFP28 desirable.
  • Experience with PowerShell, Git Bash, Gitlab, Pycharm, Bugzilla, TestRail, Confluence, JSON, YAML desirable.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, VMware, and/or other virtualization technology desirable.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work well independently while still being a team player.
  • Must be able to work well with local and remote team members and colleagues.
  • Must be able to adopt new technologies quickly and independently.
  • Must have good attention to detail while not losing track of the larger picture.
  • Must have a systematic approach in identifying, documenting, and solving problems.
  • Must be able to handle difficult or unexpected technical problems.
  • Must be able to efficiently manage and prioritize multiple tasks and requests, and handle periods of frequent interruptions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Will be required to lift 50 lbs at times
  • Will require the ability to do rework while looking through a binocular microscope
