Job Description

Do you have at least 5 years of experience as a Motorcycle Mechanic or Technician?  Do you enjoy teaching others about motorcycle mechanics?  Are you adept with the anatomy of and have performed maintenance on Harley-Davidson motorcycles?  If so, then you may be the candidate we are looking for!

Our client, a technology and innovation leader specializing in defense, civil government, and cyber security markets throughout the world, is seeking a Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Technical SME.  The for 17 months in Troy, MI from 8am to 5pm, the SME will be responsible for:

  • The technical development of courseware as part of a Curriculum Design Team. 
  • The accuracy of course materials including analysis, design, development, and review.

Duties include

  • Serving as the content expert for all courseware
  • Participating in course development meetings
  • Analyzing and forecasting course development needs based on product and technology changes pertaining to Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.
  • Developing courseware based on product vehicle and systems content
  • Working with task lists, existing course materials, Engineers, Vendors, Instructors, Course Developers, Technical Writers, and Technicians.
  • Meeting course development milestones/deadlines within budget
  • Interfacing with internal and external customers within the company and industry
  • Traveling to support the development and validation of courses will be required.
  • Evaluating and making recommendations to courseware development from a Technicians perspective
  • Validating and developing Hands-On exercises

Required Skills

  • An Associates Degree in Motorcycle Technology or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive industry
  • Experience as a Harley-Davidson Service Technician
  • Expertise in Mechanical and Electric systems diagnosis and repair for Motorcycles
  • An understanding of a typical service department environment and a typical training center environment.
  • Computer software skills (MS Office)
  • A working product knowledge, product application(s) and staying current in the Motorcycle industry
  • Highly motive and task driven
  • The ability to complete task with minimum supervision

Desired Skills

  • Ability to research technical information using Electronic Service Information
  • Stand-up Instructor experience
  • MMI certified in Motorcycle Repair or equivalent

This is an estimated SEVENTEEN (17) month temporary position in Troy, MI that is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions.  Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.  Position is subject to U.S. Government Contractor hiring eligibility requirements.  No third-party vendors.  Pay is commensurate with experience.
