Job Description

Volt has an opening for a Help Desk Support Specialist to install, service and upgrade PCs with one of our major Client’s in Oak Ridge, TN.

The Help Desk Support Specialist will provide internal or external support installing, servicing and upgrading PC equipment, mainframe connections, and peripherals and troubleshoot and repair computer software, hardware, and network configurations, plus provide technical and user support for PC components, mainframe networking, and LAN-based systems.

AVAILABILITY:

Must be willing to work an 8 hour shift between business hours of 6:00am-8pm with reduced staffing on weekends and major holidays M-F and occasional Saturdays, including several weeks of on-call responsibilities each year. Hours are subject to change.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Hardware/software troubleshooting experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of computer support in a technical call center environment.
  • Proven experience providing effective and professional communication via telephone, email, and person-to-person.
  • Demonstrated customer awareness, strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Experience in desktop support, IT concepts, and help desk software.
  • Proven ability to think and troubleshoot logically, and act decisively in critical situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products, Internet Explorer, and Windows.
  • May be some travel

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience computer hardware/software support
  • Technical certifications such as A+, MCP, MCSE, CCNA
  • Windows 7, IE 8 and IE 11, Terminal Services, VPN software, Microsoft and other commonly used commercial products (including Office 2010 Suite), strong Microsoft Outlook skills, remote access, Deltek Costpoint, Blackberry, Android and iOS support
  • Account administration, password reset experience
