Volt is looking for a High Performance Computing (HPC)IT Engineer

This is a direct hire position for our client, a multinational conglomerate at their location in Ridgefield Park, NJ                

Travel: 10-20%

Position Summary:

The candidate will support high-performance computing (HPC) for engineering research across multiple organizations, including corporate research, IT security, IT infrastructure (networking and data centers) and interact with specialists across multiple geographies to enable and maintain an efficient HPC infrastructure. Candidates desired to have bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, and have 7+ years of demonstrated experience in system administration and support of large client-server based computing architectures.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the design, implementation, management and support of enterprise HPC cluster solutions in a highly complex, high-performance, low-latency environment
• Collaborate with end users to determine HPC requirements, architect solutions, and drive improvements
• Architecting High Performance Computing Clusters
• Performance and reliability evaluation of HPC systems to assist purchasing decisions
• Researching, evaluation, and testing of various HPC strategies (on premise, hybrid-cloud computing, GPU computing)
• Knowledge of establishing interoperability of UNIX, Linux and x86 based systems, configuration of remote access mechanisms
• Interacting with HPC hardware vendors for service, and to plan, and maintain OS updates and security patches
• Developing and implementing backup/recovery strategies, verification of the health and status of HPC clusters
• Provide support for enterprise services such as DNS, NFS, security protection mechanisms
• Assist with Data Center Management (Power, Power usage, Temperature, Humidity, Cold/Hot zone, Check In/Out, Data center contract)
• Adapt to the customer’s fast-paced and fast-changing Road Map
• Provide various reports accordingly for current projects (monthly report included)
• Travel to other Data Centers (TX, VA, CA) when needed. 10-20% of the time.

 

Requirements:

•        7+ years hands-on experience with Linux-based HPC cluster architecture, deployment and operations of high-performance computing and storage technologies

•        Demonstrated competency in the design, build, and configuration of services necessary for IT infrastructure.

•        Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux systems, system administration tools, methodologies, and security practices.

•        Experience with network configuration and management.

•        Experience with High Throughput Network solutions such as Infiniband, OmniPath, and 100GbE

•        Experience with Schedulers such as UGE (SGE), SLRUM, PGS, and LSF

•        Experience in troubleshooting software and hardware system errors

•        The ability to analyze a wide range of system related problems.

•        Strong interpersonal and communications skills

•        Proven ability to work in groups and lead projects

•        Experience with at least one major Linux distribution

•        Bachelor’s Degree in Information technology or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

•        Experience supporting virtual analysis applications (ADAS) in Automotive OEM

•        Preference given for experience with AD, Machine Learning, AD, SM

•        Work with engineers and analysts to establish and document virtual analysis best practices

•        Strong knowledge of requirements gathering techniques

•        Demonstrated leadership ability

•        Strong ability to interact with business partners at various level

•        Ability to indirectly lead a cross-functional team towards a common solution

•        Experience in executing Project Management methodologies and techniques

•        Ability to work within an offshore application development supplier engagement model

•        Ability to multitask and work in a cross-functional setting

•        Self-starter with the ability to quickly learn complex business processes
