Volt is looking for a dynamic and experienced HR Business Analyst to join our Total Rewards Team within the Office of Human Resources, located in Orange, CA. This role will report to the Director of Total Rewards and be an integral part of the HR team.
The HR Business Analyst will work closely with the Director, Total Rewards, to analyze data, conduct audits to ensure company compliance, design and execute executive compensation plans, analyze compensation plans and lead special projects. The position will be responsible for conducting salary surveys, creating/updating salary structures and completion of annual review processes. This position requires wage and hour knowledge to review positions for exempt classification, review alternative work schedule agreements and advise on wage and hour issues. This position will also support the HR department projects and overall business operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate company-wide annual compensation increases.
  • Conduct compensation surveys for competitive bench-marking in marketplace.
  • Create job descriptions, determine exempt/non-exempt classification, create appropriate compensation addendum and create salary ranges for all position levels.
  • Support onboarding of new hires by producing appropriate compensation agreements
  • Update and revise existing compensation related documents for compliance
  • Participate in compensation surveys; perform independent analysis of internal and external benchmarking data to support compensation needs.
  • Function as a project leader/ member on compensation, wage and hour or other department or HR projects
  • Monitor the specific competitive market conditions relevant to the company's lines of business as well as government regulations that will affect pay rates, keeping the companies pay rates both competitive and current.
  • Analyze and benchmark data on salaries and wages to evaluate how the organizations pay scales compare with that of the companies they are competing against in the employee market.
  • Conduct job analysis to determine FLSA exemption.
  • Ensure that compensation programs are in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Metrics and Report Creation utilizing the HRIS system.
  • Collaborate with other functional departments to analyze and problem solve
  • Provide guidance on pay decisions, policy and guideline interpretation.
  • Knowledgeable about wage and hour laws nationally and internationally.



Position Qualifications - Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Accounting& Finance, Business or comparable field.
  • Knowledge of legal and compliance issues related to compensation
  • 2 - 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a compensation administration role and or business analyst; working knowledge of human resources policies and compensation practices and structures desired
  • Knowledge of Wage and Hour Laws is desired
  • Technical expertise with Microsoft Suite: Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment; ability to work well under pressure and to manage multiple priorities.
  • Advanced ability with Excel, and experience creating presentations with metrics and graphs.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office specifically, Access, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to interact with all employees at all levels within and external to the company.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills, and able to work independently and exercise judgement in decision making.
  • Strong background using HRIS systems, including experience with PeopleSoft and PeopleSoft queries desired
  • Keen attention to detail, and ability to quickly identify data discrepancies.
  • Ability to maintain highly confidential information is a professional manner.
  • Project Management experience is a plus.
