Job Description

Family owner Nursery in Carpinteria is hiring for a HR Generalist role, must be Bilingual (English/Spanish). This hands-on generalist position works at two companies under the same ownership to ensure the use of the company’s human resources and comply with all relevant state and federal regulations. In charge of policies, procedures, and programs for employee benefits, training and development, compensation, performance management, occupational safety, staffing, disciplinary actions, separations, leaves of absence, and other HR functions.

This is a perm job opportunity with a fair salary and Benefits. Company has about 160 employees and grow specialty flowers since the 1970's. 

Job requirements; 

  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) must read and write both. 
  • Develops and provides all required paperwork and forms for new hires
  • Maintains files of job postings, resumes, employment applications, exit interviews, and related documents. Conducts new hire orientations.
  • Reports, maintains, and monitors all workers’ compensation case files.
  • Manages performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Provides guidance and support to managers and employees related to company policies and practices.
  • Facilitates resolution of employee relations issues, such as harassment allegations, work complaints, or other employee concerns.
  • Confers with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
  • Recruits for all exempt, nonexempt and temporary workers; writes and places job postings; works with supervisors to screen and interview candidates; completes background and reference checks as required, extends job offers, and conducts new-employee orientations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of Federal and California Employment Law.
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in Human Resources or certification equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years experience working in Human Resources with a progressive growth in responsibilities.
  • Bilingual – Ability to communicate with employees and prepare documents in Spanish.
  • Solid knowledge of Federal and California Employment Law.
  • Ability to investigate and bring closure to complex HR issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.

Salary is $70k- $85k to start depending on experience 

Schedule is Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm
