Volt is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist for a full time opportunity here in Kern County.
The payroll specialist maintains and processes payroll records and reports for accounting of salary/wages due, accruals, deductions and other payroll functions. Responsible for the timely and accurate delivery of payroll and related client services, record keeping and reporting. Acts as a resource and provides guidance in payroll related matters.
Job Duties
- Serve as primary point of contact in the processing of both semi-monthly and bi-weekly payrolls
- Prepare and maintain payroll related records
- Analysis and process daily payroll requests and issues.
- Work with employees and staff to maintain and establish key inputs for payroll processing (e.g. commissions, uniform, relocation, tuition reimbursement, LOA, etc.)
- Cross-trains designated back-up to administer and process time and attendance and payroll.
- Serves as primary point of escalation cases received from payroll team and other internal stakeholders
- Knowledge and flow of ADP payroll system functions
- Assist in basic payroll system configuration of pay components and deductions
- Assist with projects as needed in order to remain compliant with Federal and State payroll laws and regulations
- Ensures termination process of employees is complied with according to State law; i.e., company property returned; final wages generated; deductions thereof made within the time provided by law.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years previous accounting experience required
- QuickBooks experience preferred
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Longevity on resume
- Bilingual in Spanish and English is a plus!
