Job Description

Summary/Objective:

The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with senior HR Management in supporting business and employee needs. This position carries out responsibilities primarily in the following functional areas as business needs require: employee relations, policy implementation, performance management, training development, succession planning administration and employment law compliance.

In addition, provide HR support as needed in: benefits administration, recruitment/on-boarding, record keeping.

This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The generalist must be sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and the business needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in the development, communication and administration of human resources plans, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Prepares and maintains the employee handbook.
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist responding to issues such as employee complaints, harassment allegations and civil rights complaints.
  • Coaches, counsels, and guides managers on performance issues and disciplinary actions; ensures proper documentation is developed and maintained.
  • Administers the performance management and evaluation program; revises as necessary.
  • Develops training plans and facilitates training to all levels of the workforce.
  • Administers the talent identification and management program, including succession planning; develops career paths as necessary.
  • Develops and maintains company diversity initiatives; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs.
  • Maintains, develops reports, and analyzes data from HR information system records.
  • Assists in benefits communication and administration.
  • Assists in administering the compensation and salary adjustment programs.
  • Assists with recruitment tasks (job postings, candidate searches, applicant reviews, interviews, etc.)
  • Performs any additional duties/responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree is required in HR Management or a related field.
  • Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations.
  • A minimum of 3 - 5 years' experience in a HR Generalist role in a corporate office.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification or ability to obtain certification within 24 months of hire date.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters' degree in HR or related field preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) credential.
  • 6 - 10 years of HR experience.
  • Experience creating corporate training materials and employee development plans.
