Job Description

Volt has partnered with an established Manufacturing leader in North East Pa who is now hiring for a HR and Safety Generalist!

Our client is a leader in producing high-quality electrical commutators, AC rotors, copper extrusions, forgings, and castings. Products are sold around the world and service the electrical power, mining, transportation, military and architectural markets.

Overview:

This position is highly visible within the company and includes significant written and verbal communications with employees as well as all company management. The position further is an important factor in administrating company policies, reporting compliance and employee development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and maintain active / positive relationship with union committee. Participate in enforcement of the current Union contract and contract periodic negotiation support. Attend grievance meetings, record as required and maintain document files. Prepare Union contract mandatory report outs.
  • Maintain accurate records and run payroll for both hourly and salaried employees using ADP WFN platform.
  • Maintain training records in coordination with managers and supervisors for hourly employees.
  • Counsel with supervisors and managers regarding employee development and discipline.
  • Assist with employee questions and resolving issues daily as they pertain to compensation, company benefits including 401K, health, workers comp, union contract interpretation, work rules for the entire company and other policies.
  • Writing and running hourly employment advertisements, writing offer letters, job postings and job descriptions
  • Coordinating physicals/drug tests, conducting new employee orientations, processing new hire paperwork including enrolling employees in company benefits plans and making updates during open enrollment
  • Conducting affirmative action recordkeeping, completing annual EEO-1 and Vets Reports
  • Filing, organizing mail, coordinating mailings, updating employee records
  • Organizing company employee events, leading Wellness program activities and quarterly meetings.
  • Handling tuition reimbursement and service award programs.
  • Run safety committee, and promote safe work environment through safety training and communication
  • Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years Human Resources experience in a manufacturing company with union representation.

Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint including ability to design and maintain Excel spreadsheets, create PowerPoint presentations and enter data into our ADP payroll system

Must be energetic, positive, creative, self-directed and have the ability and desire to take on new responsibilities and move into a position of increasing professional responsibility in the future

Must have a high level of interpersonal skills including poise, tact and diplomacy to handle sensitive and confidential situations and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels including senior management and Board of Directors

Must have a sincere interest in providing top customer service to our employees

Must have ability to juggle multiple priorities, changes and unexpected events without losing focus and professional demeanor

Must have ability to present materials one-on-one and also design and present formal presentations to a group of employees.
