Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting for an Infrastructure Architect for a position that we have open in Aurora, CO.  Individual will be will be responsible for the design and delivery of specific sets of functionality of a larger system. Individual will be responsible for providing the compute services underpinning the mission software, including the server hardware, VMware private cloud environment, and the operating systems. The overall project consists of several complex compute environments that form the backbone for the operational deployment of a critical, strategic national asset. • Design and implement private cloud architectures or upgrade existing architectures using existing and new compute servers as needs dictate 

• Document the impact of proposed design changes (both hardware and software) on existing COTS configurations 

• Design and implement the transition of physical (bare metal) servers to VMs (P2V), planning the compute resources needed. This will involve trade-offs, purchase recommendations, and value studies in order to get the most cost-effective solution(s). 

• Contribute to the IA hardening of bare metal, hypervisor, and VMs on this system

Qualified candidates will have the following education/experience to be considered: 

Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and 4 years of related work experience or 12 years of related work experience in lieu of a degree Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering Discipline

• Experience in designing private cloud architectures

• Experience in COTS configuration analysis, matching COTS SW products to system requirements

• Proficiency in matching system requirements (specific user or VM requirements) to compute capabilities (RAM, single-threaded speed, total throughput) and the knowledge and ability to select specific types of compute servers to meet those requirements.

• Experience with the architecture and design of COTS computing infrastructure

• Ability to prepare and present status, plans, and risks to management • General working knowledge of networks, storage, and virtualization (VMware)

• Understanding of Change Management processes - Version Control of software and applications using ClearCase and familiarity with DR’s, CR’s, and IR’s written with ClearQuest

• 4 years of related work experience

Desired Skills:

• Background in COTS product installation and configuration

• Experience with automation tools such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack, Fabric or similar products for O/S builds and software installation/configuration

• Experience with hardening systems to DISA STIG compliance levels

• Experience with Windows and/or Linux System Administration • Scripting skills (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.)
