Job Description

SUMMARY: Inspects machined or assembled parts using check jigs and fixtures or set-up to ensure conformance with applicable standards, specifications, blueprints, and write and oral instructions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily including, but not limited to the following:
? Performs typical inspection operations. Checks-in jigs and fixtures and standard inspection tools, equipment and procedures.
? Inspects welded assemblies consisting of welded tubes, half stampings, machine flanges and fittings, using blueprints to obtain primarily dimensional information.
? Inspects detail parts and those involving straight or regular flanges and angles.
? Checks for missing operations using blueprints, work orders or templates.
? Visually inspects such operations as fusion and seam welding, riveting, drilling, checks for cracks, rough edges, scratches, tool marks, elongated holes, identification and other indications of poor or unacceptable workmanship.
? Checks assemblies for compliance with blueprint and purchase order requirements.
? Checks assemblies for compliance with blueprint and purchase order requirements.
? Performs re-inspection stamp to parts and assemblies indicating approval or rejection and prepares paperwork as required.
? Perform receiving inspection when required.
? Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
? Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
? Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
? Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
? Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed including written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
? Other Skills and Abilities: Must have knowledge of welding practice and procedures as applied to welding inspection including associated processing and fabrication operations; must be able to use blueprints to obtain primary dimensions and finish information.
MATERIALS WORKED ON: Ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys in the form of sheet tubular stock, machined and formed parts.
MATERIALS WORKED WITH: Welded parts and assemblies
TOOLS USED: Welding inspection checking fixtures, micrometers, scales, surface plates and tables, inspection stamps. At all times must have a complete set of personal tools adequate to perform the work covered by the job classification.
EQUIPMENT USED: Various types of surface plates and other inspection setup accessories; precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier gauges, scales and all inspection tools; hardness testing equipment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Employees in this classification must pass periodic visual acuity tests.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
