Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions seeks First Article Quality Inspector for local San Fernando Aircraft Machining facility. This Machine shop is specialized in made to order fluid fittings and just in time delivery. Seeking to add a dedicated individual to join their total quality management team, which prides itself on strict compliance and optimum customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Measuring, counting, and visually inspecting product to verify conformity to design requirements and associated written internal and customer documentation. Generates and or populates inspection records. Works with company written work instructions and procedures while using company approved forms.

  • Read/interpret customer and manufacturing process and design requirements from blueprints and/or industry specifications and standards
  • Perform “1st Article” dimensional and visual inspection of machined characteristics
  • Perform dimensional in-process sample inspection of forged and machined materials
  • Perform weekly shop audits of random samples from each machine center (Visual, Dimensional & Documentation)
  • Use Company computer ERP System for tracking work in process
  • Create and populate AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports as needed or assigned
  • Identify and segregate product nonconformities and create associated nonconformance reports for disposition
  • Review manufacturing and rework instructions for product conformance, as required
  • Review special; process purchase orders and certifications for accuracy and completeness
  • Compare product to be shipped against sales orders to verify correctness of parts, part & package identification, quantities and associated quality and manufacturing documentation
  • Release products for packing, packaging and shipment.
  • Communicate with Company Managers and/or inspection lead when issues arise that prevent product from moving to next process sequences
  • Investigate customer returned material to verify/validate claims and document results of the investigation as required

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in blueprint reading
  • Minimum 3-5 years Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing inspection experience of machined/manufactured components (Written Examination will be conducted)
  • Proficiency in shop math, able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. (Written Examination will be conducted)
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. (Written Examination will be conducted)
  • Willing to work overtime during the week and occasional Saturday, when needed
  • Able to work in an organized and methodical manor
  • Intermediate Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, ERP)

Preferred Requirements:

Prior calibration technician experience

Prior fluid fitting manufacturing or inspection experience

Prior threaded fastener manufacturing or inspection experience

Bi-Lingual in English and Spanish
