Job Description

Volt is currently seeking a Instructional Systems Designer for a leading aerospace defense organization in Orlando.  For over 50 years this organization has been providing innovative technology solutions globally for its customers. Ideal candidate will develop technical documentation covering various types of electronic equipment, including simulation devices and test equipment.  Candidate will create documentation specifications, generate training to include course materials for instructors, and provide proposal inputs by performing the following duties:

Instructional Systems Designer

The Instructional Systems Designer functions as part of a training/courseware development team to create DoD training programs.  The candidate must have a solid knowledge of ISD principles and demonstrable experience in the design and development of a multitude of training products (Instructor Guides, Student Guides, Instructor-Led Training.

  • The ISD may be involved in any or all parts of the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and/or Evaluate (ADDIE) process for training projects.
  • The ISD must be a proven self-starter with an ability to interact effectively with military, industry, and academic partners.
  • Applies ADDIE/SAT process to training/courseware in accordance with the contract, delivery order statement of work, data item description requirements, and prescribed standards and specifications as directed by the program manager.
  • Conducts in-depth job-task analysis and needs assessment to identify learning objectives, to determine training solutions and other performance enhancement solutions (e.g., management reinforcement, rewards, role clarity, job aids.)
  • Consults with managers and various team members to develop individual training program goals, overall program objectives, and module objectives.
  • Applies knowledge of instructional design theory to design course content, working with subject matter experts, management, trainers, e-Learning specialists.
  • At this level, creates new training programs from scratch, with some lead guidance, starting with conducting a formal analysis and outline.

Required Skills / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of Instructional Systems Design (ISD) principles and demonstrable experience in the design and development of a multitude of training products (Instructor Guides, Student Guides, Instructor-Led Training Packages, Interactive Courseware (ICW), Web-based Training (WBT)
  • Extensive familiarity with full MS Office Suite. Expert level MS Word and MS Excel. Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD a plus.
