Volt has an opportunity for you to become part of a prestigious team of professionals. We are seeking a Instrumentation Technician to work onsite at our client’s facility in East Peoria, IL.  This is a contingent position expected to last 1+ years.   

Must be available to work W2 for Volt, No C2C or 3rd party vendors

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee validating large and light structures thru the installation of wireless instrumentation. 
  • Measure accelerations to determine the inertial loads and to measure strain history to estimate the fatigue life of the machine structures.  
  • Support the PPG Instrumentation Team in providing quality test-data to the Machine Development test community through the application of and support of instrumentation on earth moving equipment.
  • Responsible for the installation, troubleshooting, and validation of sensors and portable data acquisition equipment used to collect test data on machines.
  • Work on a team to install both wired and wireless instrumentation to earthmoving, mining, and construction equipment for product development.
  • Installation of transducers, routing cables, setting up data acquisition systems, and publishing the data in Tableau.
  • Working with other technicians, mechanics, and engineers are all within scope.

Education Requirements:

  • Associates degree in electronics or equivalent experience of 2-3 yrs in instrumentation or data collection.
  • Will also accept a certificate or associates degree in a STEM field.

Technical Skills

Required:

  • Interest in measurements and instrumentation
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, resistance, current, voltage, schematics, electrical theory, physical theory, and application of electrical theory
  • Basic electronics troubleshooting skills

Desired (differentiation factors):

  • Instrumentation Experience (Working knowledge of basic measurement techniques for pressure, temperature, flow, displacement, vibration, and strain)
  • Experience working with signal conditioning and data acquisition systems, preferably Somat EDAQ or Dewesoft
  • Experience applying strain gages
  • Working knowledge of wireless networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software problems.
