POSITION TITLE:          IT/CAE Administrator     

DEPARTMENT:             Texas Design and Development Center

SUMMARY:

The Staff level position in the Integrated Circuit Design Department.  It involves managing Linux Systems for CAD and the IC design network in a multisite configuration.   This position reports to the Director of IC Design in Houston.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Proactively monitor and maintain all UNIX/Linux infrastructure technology in dual sites
  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement CAD software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to deploy new Software applications/revisions for users
  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
  • Collaborate with other teams (Corporate IT) for optimal use of our internal Linux systems in a corporate IT infrastructure

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • BS/MS degree in Electrical Engineering (IT) or Computer Science with 5-10 years’ experience in IT Linux System Administration or CAD development
  • Experience in the administration of Linux servers/systems in a multi-site configuration and managing local IT infra structure.
  • HW experience in configuring data centers (Blades, Servers, and 3PAR devices).
  • Networking knowledge, including (iLO technologies, Static and Dynamic IPv4, IPv6).
  • Private and Corporate Networking knowledge setup, configuring and maintenance.

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Experienced in programming languages; PERL, PYTHON, RUBY, CSH, BASH, KSH - preferred
  • In depth knowledge and experience with Red Hat Linux and Centos Linux OS’s is desired
  • Troubleshooting OS issues and hardware issues, mainly using HPE and some Dell hardware
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills
  • Strong consideration given to experience in maintaining Cadence/Mentor IC design software management and installation,        and deployment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be independently mobile.
  • The employee is also required to interact with a computer for extended periods of time, and communicate with co-workers.
  • Must be able to travel to other office locations when necessary to our corporate offices

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to travel internationally and domestically, less than 15% of the time.
