Job Description

We are looking to hire a Junior to Intermediate level Data Centre Engineer for our Client in the IT Industry in Toronto, ON for approximately a 6 months contract with the possibility of extension. There may be a 10% support need in the Mississauga, ON office, so candidates are required to be flexible to commute as needed.

  • Daytime shift: 9am-5pm EST between Mon-Fri
  • Length of Assignment: 6 months to start
  • Pay Rate: depending on experience ~ upto $43.63/hr (T4)

General Summary:?

  • Project Overview/ Manage and operate servers in our data center and offices in Toronto, including technical support for users
  • Manage and operate servers in our data center and offices in Toronto, including technical support for users
  • Data Centre is Linux Cent/OS physical servers, 3 RACs with 10 Servers per RAC.
  • Windows and Linux Office.
  • 24/7 Production Data Centre,
  • Scripting in Python, C++ and Matlab.


  • Install, configure, and maintain switches, servers, firewalls, hard drives and software
  • Manage and administer servers, networks, and applications such as DNS, FTP, Docker and Web
  • Diagnose system performance, update computer systems and resolve hardware/software issues
  • Conduct inspections on power and cooling systems to ensure they are operational and efficient
  • Organize the floor space for easy accessibility
  • Optimize network through data analysis
  • Provide technical support
  • Prepare reports, analyze data and metrics
  • Manage large amounts of inbound and outbound calls/emails in a timely manner
  • Create and document operational procedures
  • Work together with experts from other teams on projects

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience deploying and supporting servers in a 24/7 production data-centre environment
  • Strong experience working in Unix/Linux environment
  • Strong verbal, written, and analytical skills and the ability to communicate and interact with team members even in Japan
  • BA/BS Degree in Technical field or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Solid foundation in scripting language
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese would be beneficial
