IT Operations Engineer

Skills and Experience:

The ideal applicant will have performed a similar role in a Small/medium sized IT operation, with service desk management experience and have a thorough understanding of priorities and business impact.

  • Educated to degree standard or equivalent experience
  • Certifications in MS Operating Systems, A+ Certification, Network+ and MS Office 365 applications desirable.
  • Experience in a hands-on application support lead role,
  • Experience in providing services to agreed SLA’s and OLA’s
  • Experienced in Problem and Incident Management
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholder relationships a must
  • Experience with supporting multi-tier infrastructures.
  • Experience supporting an ERP integrated with external systems beneficial.
  • Experienced in supporting & administering:
    • Cloud based and on-prem Microsoft environments (O/S (Window Server 2012+ & Azure)
    • Productivity suites (Office 365, Skype for Business, OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Exchange Admin etc. - Microsoft Flow and PowerApps beneficial), including O365 Tenant administration)),
    • Mobile technologies (iOS, Android, Intune)
    • Windows 7 & 10
    • Active Directory including Group Policy Management;
    • Windows Server knowledge must be 2012 and above;
    • Networking (Wide and Local Area Networking)
    • PowerShell scripting skills advantageous
  • Preferred experience in Quality methodology principles (Six Sigma / TQM), and solid understanding of Service Management frameworks, ideally demonstrated by ITIL service foundation certification.

Key Activities:

  • Provide hands on application and technical support.
  • Responding to client issues, installing (& imaging), diagnosing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading all PC Software, PC Operating Systems, PC Hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance
  • Performing system administration, support and development for applications and systems.
  • Maintain the inventory of all hardware and software, ensuring license compliancy and proof of purchase are available for relevant site(s).
  • Ensure SLAs are met and process and procedures followed
  • Ensure high availability of systems according to business needs, including support of business continuity process implementation and testing plans
  • Ensure that the IT systems are monitored so that remedial actions can be taken prior to issues resulting in outages to production
  • Perform system administration, and support for ‘local’ applications systems and applications
  • Fully support the Problem Management process
  • Ensure incidents, problems and all non-technical documentation are kept up-to-date
  • Interact with internal teams, external third-party vendors, and hosting providers to troubleshoot and resolve complex problems
  • Follow and help to continuously improve IT policies, processes and standards (e.g. problem and incident management, service levels, change control, security and auditing, release, configuration,).
  • Train our user base on implemented new technologies and provide support for IT security on Security Awareness Training
  • Share / spread knowledge with team members, coaching and developing them in IT best practice, as well as identifying training needs individually and for the team
  • Take an active role in shaping our future IT culture and environment
